Community Breakfast

We are building up to a weekly Saturday morning, free breakfast rotating between four churches in close proximity. The idea is to help create community by coming together around a free meal. Anyone is welcome, we eat, talk and share any resources we may have. Currently, to go food boxes and used clothing items are available for any who need it.

2nd Saturday the breakfast happens at Tremont Evangelical (SE 72nd and Woodstock).
3rd Saturday it's at Lents Baptist (SE 88th and Woodstock).

We are looking for volunteers who will mainly sit, eat and visit with guests; this is primarily about building relationships. We also need people to set up, tear down, serve food, assemble food boxes, sort clothes, and visit with guests. To get started, e-mail lisa@secondstories.org.

Coach a Flag Football Team
This spring we are partnering with Impact NW, the SUN School at Kelly Elementary and Trinity Fellowship's Upward Flag Football League to organize a team of 4th and 5th graders. We're looking for at least 5 assistant coaches who are open to the possibility of mentoring one of the players after the season is over. Games and practices are on Saturday mornings. Neighborhood Listening Project
We're initiating a project that will humbly and creatively listen to a community. What dreams exist there? What latent assets are among the people, institutions and groups? What are people passionate enough about that they would work together on? We're seeking to discover the answers to these questions. We need people willing to conduct relationally oriented surveys of neighbors. Others may want to help create the phases of the listening project and/or work on the data interpretation process which will lead to a project the community works on together.
